Advocacy Director

40 hours per week, includes Medical & Dental benefits. Variable shift due to local government meetings and advocacy.

The Advocacy Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all of Loaves & Fishes’ advocacy efforts, speaking on behalf of the homeless and very poor at every opportunity everywhere from government meetings to church groups to the media. The fact that Loaves & Fishes does not accept government money, frees us to speak the truth in a way that other social service providers cannot. The Advocacy Director reports to the Executive Director and may work with members of the Board of Directors in advocacy efforts.

The Advocacy Director has shared supervision of an intern and coordinates efforts with other Loaves & Fishes programs and staff, performing the following functions.

  • Empower our guests to advocate for their needs

  • Communicate with supporters and advocates to call for specific actions in support of policy change
