Human Resources Director

Mission Statement: In an environment of welcome, hospitality, safety and cleanliness we seek to provide an oasis for homeless men, women and children seeking survival services.

Loaves & Fishes, a non-sectarian, religious non-profit, providing survival services to adults and children experiencing homelessness is looking for a Human Resources Director. Loaves & Fishes, founded in 1983, has a team of 80+ full and part time staff members, and thousands of volunteers that all lend a hand to help our most vulnerable community members survive from one day to the next. The Human Resource Director will report directly to the executive director, but will work with program directors and staff on recruitment, training/development, and other required HR responsibilities, performing the following functions:

Job Responsibilities:

  • plan and manage recruitment and selection of staff
  • develop and conduct employee orientations
  • identify and manage training and development needs for employees
  • develop and implement HR policies and procedures
  • work with fiscal team to administer compensation and benefits
  • ensure compensation and benefits are in line with company policies and budget
  • support annual salary review
  • handle employee complaints, grievances and disputes
  • develop employee review process
  • administer/facilitate employee discipline processes
  • conduct exit interviews
  • review and update employee rules and regulations
  • maintain human resource information and files
  • coordinate employee safety, welfare and wellness
  • maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting HR functions
  • other duties as assigned

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in human resources management, business administration or equivalent, and at least 3 years of experience in an HR role. Excellent writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills required. Must embrace the mission of Loaves & Fishes, and have some knowledge of challenges of people experiencing homelessness. Candidates should display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense, “follow-through,” and good listening ability. Ideal candidates will be “self-starters” and goal driven.
