With passion, focus and a strong commitment towards improving the lives of the homeless, Friendship Park is actively expanding its breakfast offerings to something healthier and more sustainable. We are doing this by turning to the Sacramento community to sponsor and host breakfasts Monday through Friday in the Park between 7:00 and 8:30AM.
What is a community sponsored breakfast? A community sponsored breakfast is about as pure, real, and compassionate as one can get—groups of typically 10 or more people pool together their financial resources, their time, and their passion to fulfill a basic human need for the poorest of poor in our community. Each group shops, buys, preps, and serves something as basic as a sandwich, fruit, cheese stick and hardboiled egg to over 200 homeless.
Some groups serve once a month, some every other and some periodically. Our ultimate goal is to serve a healthy and hearty breakfast five days a week. Regardless of frequency, this program provides an opportunity for many to see the difficult reality of our homeless. However, it also provides an opportunity for many to witness and participate in the spirit of generosity and an act of compassion.
If you are interested in making a real impact on our homeless community by sponsoring a breakfast with a group of friends, family members, classmates, neighbors, work colleagues, church member or anyone else you can pull together, please contact Bruce Bruley, our Breakfast Coordinator, at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. With adult supervision, kids of all ages are welcome and encouraged to participate.
